Questions
How do I convert a PDF to Markdown?
Drop it on the box above, or tap Choose PDFs. When it's done, tap Download or Copy. With several files, Download all gives you a .zip.
What's in the .zip?
One Markdown file per PDF, each starting with a small header (title, source file, page count, date), plus all.md: every document in one file, each under its own heading. Handy for pasting into an AI chat.
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. Conversion runs in your browser and your files never leave your device. The only thing downloaded is the text-recognition model (about 4 MB, once) if a PDF has scanned pages. We keep anonymous counts, like how many files get converted, but never file names or contents, and no cookies.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
Yes. Pages with no real text, like scans or full-page screenshots, are read with OCR. It's slower (from a few seconds to about a minute for a very long page) and can misread small or decorative text. You can turn it off with the switch.
What doesn't convert well?
Tables come through as plain lines of text rather than Markdown tables, and complex multi-column layouts can come out in the wrong order. Images are left out. Password-protected PDFs can't be opened.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Tap Choose PDFs to pick from Files. On iPhone, Save to Files saves the .zip. To open it like an app, tap Share → Add to Home Screen.
Is it free?
Yes. Free, with no sign-up.
